About the event
What happened?
What have we learnt about the 1956 revolution during the Communist era? What had been said – and what had been concealed? How did the school approach the question? And how did 56 survive in the family stories?
And what could have happened?
What would have happened if the revolution had won? Alternative historical attempt on the history of Hungary after 1956, based on Vilmos Kondor’s novel series. What to know about the Second Hungarian Republic? How does that country look like? How does an alternative Budapest look like in an alternative past? And what was the role of Mr Horthy in this imagined world? And Mr Kadar?
(As part of the International Games and History Convention - a day pass is required to attend the lecture)
